Etisalat Commercial Looks Like an MTV Video

    Thursday, May 30th, 2019 / No Comments

My wonderful wife turned me on to this ad for Etisalat. Etisalat is a multinational Emirati based telecommunications services provider, currently operating in 15 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. I wanted to discuss the ad here on Inside That Ad because I believe it’s my first time seeing an ad that I confused with a music video. You don’t find out that it is actually advertising a product until the end of the commercial. All the scenes are not in any sort of sequence, there is a slogan and everyone in the commercial is dancing in some fashion. Commercial Description The commercial also features a fight scene…

Voices In Your Head for Ben & Jerry

    Monday, May 6th, 2019 / No Comments

Today’s post is of some interesting “student ads” from the Miami Ad School in Germany. I used to be an ad student myself so student ads have a special place in my heart. These ads feature a big-headed character trying to drown out the voices in his head so he does it by having Ben & Jerry’s cream on the brain.   Found these ads via Ads of the World.

Burger King Created Adverts From X-Rays of Customers

    Sunday, April 28th, 2019 / No Comments
    BURGER KING Injuries

Burger King, a global brand is rolling out advertisements using real x-rays of injured customers. The customers apparently injured their jaws eating at a Burger King. Each ad includes an associated tweet about the injury. Personally, I’m still not clear how a brand could benefit when customers are injured while consuming their product? Can you answer that question in the comments section below? It seems to me that consumers would be turning away from the brand not being persuaded by its ads. The agency behind the new work is David São Paulo, which recently created a way for Burger King’s app users in Brazil to “burn” competitors’ ads and reveal…

    Pitvertising Armpit Ad Display Marketing

    Sunday, April 21st, 2019 / No Comments
    Pitvertising

Sorry for the delay in this weeks’ blog post but an idea for a new post literally just hit me in the face. Did you all know that there was such a thing as ‘Pitvertising’? Reportedly, deodorant manufacturer Right Guard has created an armpit-based method of advertising which has cleverly been dubbed Pitvertising. This is where street teams (a.k.a. guerilla marketing) are going out in public with clothing that has sewn-in video screens that constantly stream Right Guard ads. The goal is to obviously place Right Guard products top of potential consumers. Viral Video Here is a video that went viral. I do think this tactic is just a fad…

This Bud is for 3 Also Known as Dwyane Wade

    Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 / No Comments
    Dwane Wade in Bud Commercial

This Bud is for 3 is the latest spot from Budweiser, featuring the legendary basketball player, Dwyane Wade. The spot successfully and elegantly demonstrates Wade’s impact on and off the court but focuses on the off the court part. Before watching the spot below, grab a box of tissues for the waterworks that will undoubtedly start to flow. The Commercial But this spot from Budweiser, featuring Wade’s mother and others he’s inspired and supported through extreme hardship, is obviously even more emotional than the usual parting salutes. Wade helped one of his fans graduate college via a full scholarship. Another lady in the spot lost everything in a house fire…

    Origin Stories of Famous Logos

    Sunday, April 7th, 2019 / No Comments
    Locoste Logo

About a week ago I read a very interesting story about some of the most famous fashion logos in the world–their origin stories if you will. I thought this should definitely be shared with Inside That Ad’s audience. Without further ado, let’s explore some of these famous logos. Lacoste René Lacoste and his tennis coach Alan Muhr made a bet involving a crocodile-skin suitcase. Mr. Lacoste didn’t win the bet but a journalist gave him the nickname “The Alligator.” American artist Robert George brings the crocodile logo to life in 1927. Burberry In 1901, the brand held a competition to find a new logo. The winning design: a mounted knight…

NBA Superstars are in a March Madness Frenzy

    Friday, March 29th, 2019 / No Comments
    Sir Charles

This spot for Capital One credit cards is titled “Bracket Buddy.” It features Samuel Jackson, Spike Lee and Charles Barkley check into a hotel. Sir Charles is seen carrying a parrot named Larry “Bird” who will guide his bracket through the March Madness tournament. Larry the bird also serves as Sir Charles’s good luck charm. What is supposed to make the spot really funny is that a few seconds later the real “Larry Bird” walks in with a good luck parrot named Charles Barkley. All three superstars laugh at the irony of the whole situation. Missing Superstar The whole thing is funny but I think it would have been even…

    French Railway Ads Look Extraterrestrial

    Monday, March 25th, 2019 / No Comments
Train Station - French Railway Ads

Today’s post is very much thanks to Ads of the World. I’m not sure why, but these ads remind me of comic strips from the 50s and 60s. These ads were created by TBWA for the French Railway Company.

    Mariner Watch Under Fire

    Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 / No Comments

A number of disturbing advertisements appeared on Mariner Watches social media pages last week. The images portrayed women being forced to drink alcohol and in sexually suggestive positions. in response, of course, the Internet went crazy on social media. I yet another ad featuring a man wearing a Mariner Watch grabbing the throat of a woman. People were so offended that the company then disabled its Twitter and Instagram accounts and even their website. Mariner Watches then posted a statement they describe as an “apology” on their Facebook page.

    Agency Love Letter

    Sunday, March 10th, 2019 / No Comments

GLOW FYI, you’ve been added as a maker of Agency Love Letter on @ProductHunt https://t.co/fpfM6MCd3u h/t @peterlevin 🙌 — Product Hunt (@ProductHunt) February 19, 2019 I saw this post a couple of weeks ago on Twitter and promised myself to write about it because the execution was so unique. A New York City-based agency known as Glow wanted to provide an anonymous way for people to share their feelings about their ad business clients. Therefore, they created a website to allow users to write nice – or not so nice – anonymous letters to their clients and agencies. The site, AgencyLoveLetter.com, allows people to shower their agency and client partners with…
